KHOST CITY (PAN) said.
With the cause of the crash under investigation, initial reporting indicated there was no enemy activity in the area at the time of the incident, the NATO-led force said in a brief statement.
In line with its policy, the alliance neither gave the nationalities of the servicemembers nor the exact location of the crash site. However, local officials said the chopper went down before noon in Sabari district due to a technical fault.
The Taliban claimed shooting down the helicopter in the Machi area, with rebel spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid saying that soldiers on board were killed. He gave no specific casualty figure.
Resident Asadullah said the scene had been cordoned off by international troops and area people were not allowed to enter the area.
